Scott Sports Dirty Dozen Adventure Trail Run

The Scott Sports Dirty Dozen is quite simply the most fun running event on Cannock Chase. 12km in length this a one of a kind trail running event around Cannock Chase. A true off road running experience, we avoid all the regular Fire Roads and head deep into the Forest along the tight twisty single track. No other events in the area (other than our own Trail Half Marathon maybe) use anything like the kind of trails we include in the course. This is a "real" trail running experience!

What's the event all about?

Quite simply it's a proper trail running event. We're really lucky to have Cannock Chase on our doorstep and we think think it's the perfect location for trail running. We've got lots of hills (up and down), hard stone tracks, muddy single track sections and the "Ditch Of Doom" water section with a dry route round for those made of sugar. The course we put together includes bits of everything whilst also taking runners off the beaten track.

Don't expect any walls to climb over or barbed wire to go under. No boring grass farmers fields…. This is a "Trail Run" we use one of the best and most beautiful areas in the country filled with fantastic natural trails that make the area such a destination site.

Here's what some of the previous competitors said

~ quite simply the best trail running event in the area. So much fun and I never even knew those trails even existed

~ fun, friendly and fierce. A 12km run to remember

~ love this event! challenging and fun terrain, the hills the trails and even a dip in the water – perfect to let your hair down and just run

~ flat, dry, short, easy run…. NOT

~ fantastic event, can't wait until next year. Again! Again!

~ really enjoyed the run. Felt a bit apprehensive when we arrived as i thought it might not suit me as a slower runner but I will definitely be back and will be recommending it

Expect to be tested, pushed to the limit but above all else expect to enjoy yourself.

Directions to the venue

Tackeroo Camp Site

Penkridge Bank

Nr Rugeley

WS15 2UA

The venue at Tackeroo is ideal for holding events at. Easily accessible from the north or the south Tackeroo is around 15 minutes from the M6 motorway junctions at Cannock (South) or Stafford (North).

Arrival:

Please follow the signage from Penkridge Bank to the car park area. From there you will be directed to the start / finish arena. We recommend that you arrive at this area at least 30 minutes before the start of the event. There will be a secure bag storage area for you to leave clothing / keys etc. Spend some time and warm up before the start and make sure you wear suitable clothing for winter conditions. The start area can get quite windy so a windproof jacket and full length bottoms are recommended.

What To Wear For The Event:

Given the time of year we recommend you plan for wet / cold conditions. Last year we experienced rain, hail, wind and sun! To start with trail shoes are a must. It will be wet and slippy throughout the event and trail shoes will give you the best chance of getting grip. Cover the legs with tights or very light track suit bottom. Avoid heavy fleece or cotton bottom as these will just soak up water and make running very hard work. On top we recommend a good base layer with either a highly breathable top for those running quick or a lightweight waterproof for those taking their time. Again try to avoid thick cotton or polyester tops. You don't need to carry any water as you can get this from the water stations around the course. We'd recommend that you don't carry phones or cameras as the course does include areas of deep water. If you do please make sure they are in water proof holders.

Other Information:

Prize presentation will take place around 30 minutes after the 3rd place female has crossed the line. Prizes for the Team events will be posted out a few days after the event.

Full results will be available online from Monday after the event. A link to these and the photos taken on the day will be posted on the Facebook page

Please arrive with enough time (we recommend at least 1hr before your event start) to sign on. Signing on will be open at 8.30 in the morning so to give any keen runners time to get sorted well before their start time. At signing on you'll need to find your name against your correct category and sign your name.
