Cranleigh Adventure Race
The nature of Adventure Racing is that anyone of any age and fitness can take part, from the very beginner to the ultra racer. Using a waterproof map, you plan and run your own race, although there are prizes for the ones who collect the most points in each category. You plan your own strategy and route, deciding how many CPs you want to visit and in what order. You will lose 1 point for each 30s you are late coming back. All checkpoints are worth 10 points each. Distance covered depends on how many checkpoints are visited. Distance covered can be anything from 8km to around 16+km, and depends entirely on your level of fitness, as well as your map reading skills. Registration opens at 8.30am to give competitors time to collect their maps and to plan their strategy and routes.
Mini Trail Run - 1 hour Trail Run only, using a 1:25k waterproof map, plan your route and navigate to as many checkpoints as possible in 1 hour. Minimum age to take part is 8 accompanied or 16 unaccompanied. This is particularly suitable for children accompanied by adults or for beginners whose navigation skills need improving.
Trail Adventure Race – Trail Run only, using a 1:25k waterproof map, plan your route and navigate to as many checkpoints as possible in 2 hours. Minimum age to take part is 8 accompanied or 16 unaccompanied.
Canicross runners are most welcome - dogs go for free!
SHORT Adventure Race - 2 hours, using a 1:25k waterproof map, plan your route and navigate to as many checkpoints as possible within the time. Starting on foot, there will be one transition to Mountain Bikes. Minimum age to take part is 8 accompanied or 16 unaccompanied.
