Conquer The Chilterns
C-19 PLAN:
Following updated guidance from the UK Government and in turn the governing bodies that license our events, UK Athletics and British Triathlon, we’re confident that this event can go ahead in a modified format. We’re carefully adapting our event plans from getting there to going home. We’re thinking through every detail and the safest way to deliver our events under the new guidance.
All information is provisional and subject to change.
Description: Take part in Conquer The Chilterns this September, in the heart of the Thames Valley and only an hour away from London. This is one of the most scenic events in the country with a fantastic course around the Chiltern Valley and the banks of the River Thames. The Swim takes place in the River Thames and navigates the world famous Henley Royal Regatta and Temple Island Meadows. The Bike is a lapped course with one large climb per lap. Any time lost going up will certainly be made going back down the Stonor Valley, which stretches for nearly 5 miles directly into Henley. The Run course will be an undulating climb overlooking breathtaking views and landscapes in the final section of the event.
Events:
· Triathlon: Sprint, Olympic & Middle
· Duathlon: Sprint, Olympic & Middle
· Aquabike: Sprint, Olympic & Middle
· Lake Swim: 750m, 1.5km & 3km
· Run: 10km
Event Location: Culden Faw, Oakengrove, Benhams Lane, Fawley, Henley on Thames, Oxon, RG9 3AP
Car Parking: On arrival to the site follow signs to the event car park.
Registration: All multi-discipline event participants will be sent their bib number and bike stickers prior to the event. Their timing chip and swim hat will be left at their allocated space within the transition area. Bike racking positions within transition will all be numbered and at 2 metre intervals. An enquiries desk will be set up at the front of the boat bay to allow for anyone whose number has not arrived.
Bag Drop: There will be no bag drop or changing facilities at the event in order to minimise the amount of contact between staff and participants and to restrict all activities to the outdoor areas. We advise competitors to come ready to participate and leave valuables in your car.
Bespoke medals for all finishers and a selection of refreshments
Timings: Provisional schedule - each event will have a rolling wave start with participants starting individually at 15 second intervals. This allows for 4 people per minute to start; 60 people per 15 minute period. Longer distances will start earlier in the day with the shorter distances starting later. This will ensure that there is sufficient time between each participant starting to allow for social distancing. This should also ensure there is a steady number of people coming through the finish line, avoiding groups congregating.
Start periods will be allocated based on participant bib number e.g. numbers 1-60 starting at 15 second intervals between 08:00-08:15.
Please check your pre-race email for any changes to this schedule and notifications of your start times.
